Graham Geoffrey Huggins
St Kilda Football Club 1954-1978

Since he was first elected to the committee in 1954 Graham Huggins was a tremendous influence. First as a Recruiting Scout, as Vice-President, then as President of the Club from 1958 to 1978. Through his 20 years as President the Club faced many challengers from reform groups trying to upset the balance & stability given to it by the administration of Graham & Ian Drake, who as Secretary stood alongside his friend and President whenever the Saints made the headlines. When St Kilda were rockbottom, downtrodden as a team and yet on other occassions lifting to their greatest run of success in their history, under Graham's direction the Saints became a power to be reckoned with and rose in 1966 to win their only ever Premiership.

Graham Huggins motivated the move to Moorabbin and worked countless hours at his own expense towards the success of the Club he loved. Without doubt Graham, with the support of Ian Drake, Jessie Perkins, Alan Jeans, Des Nisbet, Alec Peak, & Jack Parker, changed the face and style of St.Kilda from a downtrodden team to one which was to become not only "hard to beat" but one which gained the respect of the football world with their tough, never-say-die qualities.
