St Kilda Senior Coach Ross Lyon entered the job with a wealth of AFL experience stretching back two decades.
Lyon, 42, began his career with Fitzroy in 1985 and played 127 games over the next ten years and a further two games with Brisbane in 1995 before retiring. As a player he battled constant injuries but was renowned for his fearless approach to the game in particular his strong tackling and fierce bump.
After retiring as a player, Lyon began his coaching career as an assistant to Robert Walls at Richmond in 1996 before moving to Carlton in 2000. He spent five years at Carlton both as an assistant coach and as the club's VFL coach where he worked alongside respected coaches David Parkin, John Worsfold and Denis Pagan.
In 2004 he joined the Swans as their midfield coach, working under his former Fitzroy teammate Paul Roos, and was instrumental, helping the Swans reach consecutive Grand Finals.
Since joining the Saints, Lyon has a record of 47-23-1 and had guided the team to two finals campaigns including the 2009 Toyota AFL Grand Final.

One of the most decorated defenders in AFL history, Silvagni played 312 games for Carlton, won two premierships and was named full-back in the AFL Team of the Century. Since retiring in 2001, he has worked in part-time assistant roles at Collingwood, Sydney and the Western Bulldogs, and was also a member of the Australian coaching team for the International Rules Series. He joined St Kilda in 2007 and has worked hard to craft St Kilda's defensive unit in to one of the more formiddable back lines in the competition.

Leigh Tudor played 60 AFL games with Geelong and 8 with North Melbourne. He began his career with the Kangaroos, playing in back-to-back under 19 premierships under Denis Pagan.
He debuted with North in 1989 but had limited opportunities at senior level at Arden Street. He crossed to Geelong in 1993 and emerged as a regular during the Cats' run to the 1994 and 1995 grand finals.
Tudor's coaching highlights include the 2007 VFL premiership, winning 17 of 21 games to claim the flag with an emphatic win over Coburg in the Grand Final.
Overall Geelong has won 51 of 99 VFL games in Tudor’s five years as coach.

A former Bulldogs star, Brian has an extensive coaching and playing background.
Recruited to the Bulldogs in 1983 from Bairnsdale, Brian played a career total of 199 games from 1983-1993 and in his first year at the Club won the Charlie Sutton Medal and the Club's Best and Fairest award.
A busy worker around the packs and a Victorian representative eight times, Royal was an All-Australian player in 1986.
Since his retirement, Brian has been an assistant coach at the Western Bulldogs, Melbourne and Richmond Football Clubs.
