On Wednesday 9 March, former Saint, Cat and Lion and Swan Districts great Garry Sidebottom was inducted into the WA Football Hall of Fame. In a career spanning over 15 years, Sidebottom played 233 games with Swan Districts, St Kilda, Geelong, Fitzroy and Western Australia and kicked 395 goals. Captain of St Kilda in 1980, Sidebottom was also the leading goalkicker for the Saints in 1979

Born in Midland into a strong Swan Districts football family, Garry Sidebottom showed early that he possessed outstanding football talent and he debuted in the Swans league team aged 18 in 1973. He was big, strong and talented and worked well in tandem with Carl Ditterich either in the Ruck, Centre Half Forward or even as a Ruck Rover.

His grand contributions for Western Australia in state and State of Origin football over an eleven year period stamped him as one of the finest talents of his era.

St Kilda Football Club would like to congratulate Garry Sidebottom on his induction to the WA Football Hall of Fame.
