ST KILDA’S training camp to Boulder, Colorado hasn’t just been about hiking and running at high altitude.

The Saints have continued their pre-season weights program, with the high altitude adding to the challenge of performing at their peak.

While the Saints are a long way from their elite training facility at the Linen House Centre, Seaford, they have been plying their trade in Colorado University’s legendary Dal Ward athletic centre.

Dal Ward was the head football coach at Colorado University from 1948 to 1958 but was also prolific in baseball and basketball.

The gymnasium that bears his name is an elite facility that is used by the University’s athletic teams.

Greeting visitors at the door way is a large, stuffed buffalo head in honour of the football team’s mascot, while machines and weights are plentiful for the large contingent of travelling AFL footballers.

The Saints have also been actively involved in boxing, swimming and yoga as part of their training camp.
