ST KILDA veteran Adam Schneider has penned a new deal with the Saints, extending his contract for an extra year.

The 29-year-old had a difficult year with injury and played just five games for the season.

He finished the year strongly and was in the Saints’ best for the final four games of the year after returning in round 20 against Hawthorn.

“Adam has been a wonderful player since joining the Saints from the Swans in 2007. He is a strong leader around the club and we look forward to having him play a significant role with us again next year,” said St Kilda head of football Chris Pelchen.

A premiership player with the Sydney Swans (2005), Schneider came to the Saints at the end of the 2007 season and has been a valuable member of St Kilda’s forward line ever since.

He has played in five Grand Finals over his 10-year career and has made 23 finals appearances.  He played an instrumental role in the Saints’ 2009 and 2010 Grand Final appearances, including the 2010 draw against Collingwood.

The small forward played his 200th game in the last game of the season against Fremantle and has kicked 242 career goals.
