NICK Riewoldt in the reckoning to be named in the All-Australian team for the fifth time.

The 31-year-old is the only Saint named in the extended squad of 40 to be trimmed to 22 in preliminary final week.

Riewoldt played every game in 2014, booting 49 goals and clunking an AFL-high 191 marks.

The inspirational skipper has been named in the All-Australian squad seven times, making the final 22 on four occasions including 2009 when he was named captain.

Riewoldt will be competing with a host of stars for a position in the final team, including Lance Franklin, Jarryd Roughead, Tom Hawkins and Jay Schulz.
