SANDRINGHAM skipper Adam Cockie has capped off another stellar year, winning his second best and fairest award in a captivating vote count on Thursday evening.

The 25-year-old averaged 20 disposals, six tackles and six clearances per outing in 2014 and was a constant workhorse in the ever-changing Zebras midfield.

Ex-Saint Sam Dunell held a six-vote lead at the conclusion of the home and away season, only for Cockie to take the ascendancy after a superb elimination final performance, and hold on to it following the semi-final loss to Port Melbourne.

The former Eagle, who played seven games for West Coast in 2009, finished on 69 votes, three ahead of Dunell.

Tom Simpkin finished third on 65 votes, while Seb Ross polled 64 votes despite playing just eight games.

Cockie arrived at Sandringham in 2012 following a successful stint with Subiaco in the WAFL, and made an immediate impact, finishing second in the best and fairest and winning the Leader Newspaper Player of the Year award.
