MORE than 24,000 passionate and loyal St Kilda fans have now thrown their support behind the club with fewer than 800 members now needed by December 25 to create club history.

CEO Matt Finnis thanked all members for backing their club and said there is genuine momentum and excitement building at the Saints fuelled by a raft of positive announcements.

“We are on track to have 25,000 members by December 25 for the first time in club history which highlights the positivity amongst our fans,” Finnis told SAINTS.com.au.

“This level of membership was not experienced during our grand final years so it’s an amazing show of support from the fans that they see this club is heading in the right direction.”

Finnis urged Saints supporters to sign up now and said the club wanted to see young supporters become official members of the club.

“We know our fans are so passionate about their club so we are asking you to call on your family and friends to also sign up and help this club create history and get back to where we all want it to be,” he said.

“We are putting the right pieces in place to be an on-field and off-field force but we need our large supporter base to take that step and become paid up members – it’s crucial for us to grow and re-establish ourselves as an AFL powerhouse.

“If you have ever thought about becoming a member, there is no better or more important time to step-up and join your club.”

The influx of members has come on the back of several exciting announcements in recent months, including the arrival of key position players Paddy McCartin and Hugh Goddard, the re-signing of Nick Riewoldt, the return of Ahmed Saad and the appointments of Danny Frawley and Jamie Cox to the football department.
