TWELVE Saints players will play the final match of Sandringham's pre-season on Saturday afternoon at Frankston Oval, while Brodie Murdoch and Lewis Pierce will play in the development team.

It will be Murdoch's first game since round 23 last year following a back injury that has affected his pre-season.

In order to allow each of St Kilda's ruckmen appropriate game time, Paul Hudson said Pierce will play in the development league. 

"With Tom Hickey, Jason Holmes and Lewis Pierce all playing last week, it was difficult to give each of them enough game time, so Lewis will get a good run in the development team... It's a practice game so ultimately it's about giving the guys a good run before the start of the season," Hudson said.

"It's also great to have Brodie back after an extended layoff and he will be better for the run."
