SANDRINGHAM has recorded a 34-point victory over the Casey Scorpions, bouncing back from last week's narrow loss to the Northern Blues.

In overcast and windy conditions at Casey Fields, the Zebras performed with purpose and were led exceptionally well by skipper Adam Cockie (24 disposals, 7 tackles, 2 goals).

Midfielders Clinton Jones and Eli Templeton were both tagged by the Scorpions, but that only seemed to free up Sandringham’s other ball-winners.

St Kilda's Tom Curren (33 disposals), Blake Acres (23 disposals, 2 goals) and Josh Saunders (22 disposals) were prime examples of this, while the defence stood tall yet again.

Tom Lee and Hugh Goddard again withstood the challenges of the Melbourne pair Mark Jamar and Max Gawn, which allowed the visitors to give their forwards opportunity at the other end.

Paddy McCartin (13 disposals, 7 marks) impressed with his work rate while Ahmed Saad was dangerous finishing with 19 disposals and 2.4.

St Kilda Development Coach and Sandringham Coach Paul Hudson was  pleased with the win and the performance of his players.

"It was a terrific effort to bounce back after last week," Hudson told SAINTS.com.au.

"To come out to Casey Fields and play the type of team footy we know we're capable of was really pleasing.

"The attitude and commitment of every player was the most pleasing aspect and something we want to continue heading into next week's game against Frankston.

"The efforts of Tom Curren and Josh Saunders and the run of Blake Acres through the middle was tremendous.Tom Lee and Hugh Goddard are working really well together in the defensive end so we're really pleased with their progress."

In further pleasing news for St Kilda, Sam Gilbert made a successful return in his comeback from injury and kicked a goal in his first full match since round 22 last year.

Sandringham travels to Frankston oval next Sunday for a clash with the Dolphins.
