JACK Lonie will miss St Kilda’s round eight clash with West Coast this Saturday, Alan Richardson confirmed on Thursday morning.

The first-year player was concussed last weekend against Adelaide, and along with Nick Riewoldt, will be sidelined for the Eagles match.

“Other than that, we’re pretty good,” Richardson said.

“We might look at other changes but we have a pretty significant training session this morning and it depends on how blokes pull up.”

Riewoldt’s replacement is yet to be determined, but Richardson suggested the variety of options at the selection committee’s disposal bodes well for the future.

Tim Membrey kicked three on the weekend in the VFL, while Lee played the first half in defence before switching to full-forward and booting two second half goals.

Earlier this week, General Manager Football Performance Jamie Cox indicated that Paddy McCartin could be in the mix despite being rested from last week’s VFL game.

“We’ve got some guys that are in reasonable form,” Richardson said.

“Tim Membrey played some good footy for us early in the year. Tommy Lee has been predominantly in defence in the VFL and has been performing well.

“Paddy had the week off which was always planned… we’ve got some choices which is pleasing.”

Riewoldt is listed as TBC on the Saints injury list, but Richardson said it is ‘unlikely’ that the skipper will be sidelined for more than one game.

When the 32-year-old next plays, he will move into equal fifth on the all-time list for most games as captain.

“He’s feeling really good and he’s in again today. He’s really bubbly,” he said.

“Nick will sit down with our doctors and some external specialists next week to have a conversation. At this stage he’s pretty keen.”

Two other players who are fighting to be fit are Leigh Montagna (hamstring) and Jarryn Geary (corked thigh). Both were late withdrawals in Adelaide last weekend.

“Joey [Montagna] is very likely [to play] and his scans have come back all clear,” Richardson said.

“Gears is a bit less likely – he will probably need another week unfortunately, but it will give another young bloke a chance which is a positive.”
