LAST WEEK’S NEWS

Thanks to a very handy five goals, Josh Bruce (DEF/FWD, $399,000) led the way for the Saints this week with his best score for the season of 126pts.

David Armitage (MID, $626,000) pumped out 108 which is slightly down compared to the numbers he has been producing this year. We can’t be too critical though as this jet is still averaging 120 this year and is one of the best players going around.

After another good score of 90 on the weekend, Sean Dempster (DEF, $395,000) has now averaged 94 over the last three weeks and is playing very well, along with Sam Fisher (DEF, $426,000) who has averaged 97. As we know, solid defenders are hard to find but these two boys have certainly been getting the job done.

Sadly, Nick Riewoldt (FWD, $484,000) left the ground with only 26pts next to his name after a sickening collision. Everyone has their fingers firmly crossed that this superstar recovers quickly and is back next week.

ON THE RADAR

Tassie boy Eli Templeton (FWD, $213,000) scored a very nice 79 this week and presents as a decent downgrade option in our forward lines. He was a late inclusion into last week’s game for Montagna and took the most of his opportunities gathering 13 possessions, five marks and nine tackles. If he can stay as a regular in the Saints’ best 22, then he’s certainly one to keep an eye on.

WHAT’S COMING UP

This week, the Saints met the Eagles at Etihad Stadium. Maverick Weller will have his work cut out for him this week as I predict him to tag the dangerous Matt Priddis who scored a massive 155 last week. The Brownlow medallist has now averaged 123 over the last three weeks and is clearly the man to stop.

All the best for the round ahead.
