ST KILDA has elevated Jack Sinclair back on to the senior list and placed Tom Curren on the long-term injury list today.

Curren fractured his fibula in Saturday’s VFL win over Footscray, ruling him out for 10-12 weeks.

While unfortunate for Curren, the injury has opened the door for Sinclair to return to the senior list, and possibly the St Kilda team.

“I’m rapt that I’ve got the opportunity to potentially play AFL again,” Sinclair told SAINTS.com.au.

“It’s really disappointing for Tom. He’s a really hard worker and everyone respects the way he goes about it. It’s unfortunate that this had to happen for me to get an opportunity.”

The 20-year-old was initially elevated before round one, only to return to the rookie list before St Kilda’s thrilling win over Melbourne in round 11.

Last week he signed a two-year contract that will see him permanently on the senior list for the 2016 and 2017 seasons.

“It’s been a bit of a yo-yo ride going up and down off the rookie list,” he said.

“But to not have that next year is a bit of a positive, knowing that I am potentially able to play each week.”

The club elected to promote Adam Schneider as its mid-season elevation last week, leaving Sinclair to collect 20 disposals and register nine clearances in the Zebras’ three-point victory.

Senior coach Alan Richardson said Sinclair thoroughly deserved his opportunity following an impressive first half of the season in which he played 10 senior games and booted 11 goals.

“Jack was an important part of our side before the bye,” Richardson told SAINTS.com.au.

“He has earned another opportunity to play senior footy, and while it’s disappointing for Tom Curren and we wish him all the best, we know that Jack is ready to step in if required.”
