St Kilda today confirmed that highly-respected sports science and fitness expert, Matt Hornsby, has been appointed as the club’s new High Performance Manager.

General Manager of Football Performance, Jamie Cox, said that Hornsby came with excellent credentials having held a similar role at Richmond for 12 years and having worked in the AFL for 16 years.

For the past three years he has been running his own fitness business.

“We are very pleased to have secured the services of someone with Matt’s level of experience,” Cox said.

“He comes both highly recommended and well credentialed and is a significant appointment for the club.”

Current High Performance Manager, Adam Basil, will continue in the role until the end of the season. Hornsby will start with the club in October.

“We want to thank Adam for his professionalism and hard work over the past two seasons and recognise his contribution to the team’s success in a number of areas, in particular the health of our young list and the platform this gives us to build on going forward,” Cox said.
