ST KILDA midfielder Tom Curren is supporting a worthy cause at the moment, raising money for the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.

Tom’s brother Josh, who lost close friend Jayden Davies to osteosarcoma (the most common type of bone cancer) in early 2014, is preparing to ride more than 200km in two days from Melbourne through the Mornington Peninsula.

The Ride to Conquer Cancer’s objective is to raise $3000 and get the message out in honour of Jayden Davies, who was just 17 when he passed away in January last year.

Tom Curren, who has played 25 games for St Kilda since debuting in 2013, said the cause is one that is very close to his family’s heart.

“This is a terrific cause and it’s a real tribute to Jayden that my brother Josh is prepared to go out and challenge himself like this,” Curren told SAINTS.com.au.

“200km in two days will test him mentally and physically, but we’re determined to get the message out and raise money for a wonderful charity.”

“Any donation will help save lives.”

The Ride to Conquer Cancer will begin in St Kilda on October 24, travel through Hastings and Mornington and then finish the following day back in St Kilda.

The Peter MacCallum Centre helps to improve our understanding of how cancers work and why they develop, to find better ways to target them and treat patients.

It is Australia’s only public hospital solely dedicated to cancer treatment, research and education. Money raised through The Ride to Conquer Cancer will help to impact the lives of hundreds of thousands of people.
