The positive momentum at St Kilda continues with the club today setting a new membership milestone record.

The club passed the 30,000 members mark early this morning (10th February), two days sooner than the previous benchmark of 12th February, 2011 (after a Grand Final appearance).

CEO, Matt Finnis, thanked supporters saying it was exciting to see so many people – including 2,500 first-time members - excited about the club’s direction and embracing the 2016 Be St Kilda membership campaign.

“To have 30,000 members sign up in record time provides such a boost to the club and we appreciate this show of support,” he said.

“As a club we pride ourselves on being a place where everyone belongs and is welcome – it’s at the heart of our How I Want To Be spirit - and it’s great to see so many people wanting to be part of this.

“Our supporters are telling us they like what they see and are feeling proud of their club which gives us confidence we are heading in the right direction.”

Finnis said that the club had set ambitious on and off-field targets and is committed to being open, inclusive and reconnecting with supporters.

He said this time last year the club had signed 27,295 members and in 2014 just 22,808 members.

“We know there is a lot more work to be done as a team and as a club but we are improving, growing and embracing our supporters which is extremely important,” he said.
