St Kilda remains in a very healthy position from an injury perspective, with key defender Sam Fisher set to return this weekend to against Essendon.

The 33-year-old was missing in the Saints’ loss to West Coast in Perth, but if he trains later in the week he will be available for selection, according to St Kilda General Manager of Football Performance Jamie Cox.

“The good news is our list remains really healthy,” Cox told saints.com.au on Wednesday afternoon.

“Sam Fisher has to get through training this week, but it looks like he’ll be available for selection this week against the Bombers.”

Cox revealed young midfielder Nathan Freeman will enter a conditioning phase for the next fortnight after making a successful comeback with Sandringham’s development team on the weekend, before returning after the bye.

“Nathan Freeman got through the development game at Sandringham really well,” Cox said.

“As part of his plan, Sandringham have a bye next week, so part of his plan is to give him a couple of weeks of conditioning, before he then re-emerges back with the development team in a couple of weeks.”
