In one of the most dominant performances of 2016, St Kilda champion Nick Riewoldt put on an absolute clinic against the Brisbane Lions in Round 23.

The six-time Trevor Barker Award winner finished with an equal career-best nine goals in a virtuoso display at Etihad Stadium.

After a quiet start, Riewoldt burst into life in the second quarter, hauling in a mind-boggling 11 marks for the term, to go with three goals.

By the final siren, the 33-year-old just missed out on bagging double figures after missing a set shot from close to the boundary.

But with 9.1, 26 disposals, 21 marks and 15 score involvements next to his name, it was right up there with the very best we’ve seen from the Saints’ longest serving skipper.

On Trevor Barker Award night, Riewoldt received a remarkable 20 out of 20 votes for the effort, which is an extreme rarity, further underlining the calibre of the performance.

If you were fortunate enough to be there on the final day of St Kilda’s 2016 campaign, you won’t forget the Nick Riewoldt show.
