Could St Kilda’s last quarter fadeout against Geelong spark some changes ahead of the trip to Tasmania this weekend?

After banging down the door in the VFL, Darren Minchington was rewarded with another senior opportunity last Sunday and didn’t disappoint, producing one of his strongest performances yet. Could that open the door for Jack Sinclair to follow suit?

Sinclair, 21, hasn’t featured in Alan Richardson’s 22 since Round 18 last year, but has produced two strong performances for Sandringham in the first fortnight of the VFL season.

After finishing with 27 disposals and 13 tackles in Round 1, Sinclair backed it up with 31 disposals and five tackles against Richmond last Saturday. Has he done enough to earn another chance?

Off-season midfield recruit Koby Stevens is another who is on the cusp of senior selection, despite suffering a head knock in the VFL.

The former Western Bulldogs midfielder has endured an interrupted start to his career at Linen House Centre but could come in to bolster the Saints' engine room.

Young rebounding defenders Brandon White (26 disposals), Daniel McKenzie (26 disposals) and Bailey Rice all put their hands up for a senior berth following strong efforts against the Tigers.

White debuted in the final Round of 2016, McKenzie played seven of the last eight games of last season, while father-son recruit Rice is yet to appear at the highest level, although he did feature in the JLT Community Series where a broken finger halted his pre-season.

Dashing half-back Shane Savage also impressed at Trevor Barker Beach Oval, accumulating 27 touches and plenty of mileage in a strong response to his demotion from the senior side.

Emerging key forward Paddy McCartin also pressed his claims for a return to the ones, providing a strong target inside 50 and hitting the scoreboard with 3.1 from 16 touches and seven marks.
