Form guide:

Sandringham are 1-1 after the first fortnight of 2017. After holding off a determined Essendon in perfect conditions in the opening round, Richmond were too good for the Zebras.

In the opposition stakes, Collingwood also sit at 1-1. The Magpies won a thriller in Round 1 over Coburg only to be beaten comprehensively by 80 points against Essendon last Sunday at Windy Hill. Collingwood will no doubt be out to prove a point at Beach Rd on Saturday afternoon.

Players to watch:

SANDRINGHAM

Paddy McCartin

VFL coach Lindsay Gilbee was full of praise for key forward McCartin last round, where the 21-year-old took seven marks and gathered 16 disposals for three goals. After kicking two goals and taking nine marks in the opening round, ithe budding key forward is pressing his claims for a return to Alan Richardson’s side.

Brandon White

The 20-year-old has been impressive in the opening two rounds, playing well as a running defender. Gathering 26 disposals with four marks and two tackles, White showed plenty of upside as he seeks further opportunities at AFL level.

COLLINGWOOD

Alex Woodward

The ex-Hawk is a prolific ball winner and over the opening two rounds has picked up a combined 56 disposals and 11 tackles. An inside midfielder who uses the football well on the outside, Woodward will again be crucial if the Magpies are to upset the Zebras and return to the winner’s list.

Adam Oxley

One of the few Magpies to hold their heads high last week, Oxley was tremendous gathering 29 disposals as well as six marks and four tackles. His run and carry was vital for the Pies, with the 24-year-old having four rebound 50s and six inside 50s for the match against the Bombers.
