Since the last construction update, it’s been full steam ahead at RSEA Park.

Demolition works have continued and despite inclement weather and several public holidays, progress has been swift. The Drake Stand has been fully demolished, while the portion of the Huggins Stand allocated to stage one has also been nearly fully removed.

The remaining section of the Huggins Stand will stay in place until stage two works commences early next year. This will include the Social Club which remain fully operational until that time.

RSEA Park Project Director Jon Couston said the progress to date had been encouraging.

“The rate at which ADCO are completing the demolition process has been great,” Couston said.

“Once the final sections are down, we can look ahead to getting the site ready for in-ground works.”

The next stage will include the installation of new underground services and the shaping of the ground level to accommodate the new building. This will include the first concrete pour and subsequent erection of the steel structure.

“While it has been emotional seeing the old stands at Moorabbin come down, knowing that it’s making way for RSEA Park and all the improvements that will include definitely makes it worthwhile,” Couston said.

“We can’t wait to get started on the next phase and continue our journey home.”
