St Kilda defender Jimmy Webster is set to return against Sydney at the SCG on Saturday night after serving a two-week suspension, says half-back Shane Savage.

The Tasmanian was sidelined for making unnecessary contact with the eye of Fremantle midfielder Nick Suban in the Saints nine-point win at Domain Stadium in Round 15.

“'Webby' comes back in,” Savage told reporters at a press conference at Linen House Centre.

“Obviously his run and carry is really important and the way he defends is important for our team, so he’s going to be a really important player this week.”

After playing only four games in the first 15 rounds, Savage has returned in the last fortnight and recaptured some of his best form across half-back.

The 26-year-old defender hit the target with all but one of his 31 disposals against Essendon on Friday night, as well as registering 10 intercept possessions and 487 metres gained.

Despite being disappointed with his year, Savage is determined to make a contribution across the last six games as the Saints fight for a finals berth.

“I’ve had a pretty disappointing year, I’ve struggled to find a bit of form, but I think the last two weeks I’ve found that and I’m playing some pretty consistent footy at the moment,” Savage said.

“I’m just looking to contribute as much as I can for the last six games of the year."
