Speed and efficiency.

They are the two ingredients required to thrive in AFLX, according to St Kilda midfielder Koby Stevens.

Wingman Jack Sinclair and half-back Jimmy Webster are two players who possess both traits.

And they are two players Stevens tips to adapt to the hybrid format of the game on Friday night, when the Saints face Essendon and Hawthorn at Etihad Stadium.

“It’s a very quick game. I think it will suit the skilful, running half-backs,” Stevens told SEN Breakfast on Thursday morning.

“There’s no stopping, it’s just up and back, so you’ve got to be really fit as well.

“Jack Sinclair had a good year last year and he’s super fit and been running all our running at training.

“Jimmy Webster had a really good year last year off half-back and he’s another player that suits the game really well.

“I think Saints fans will sit back tomorrow night and be pretty happy watching those two.”

While Stevens is no stranger to moving clubs, having been traded from West Coast to the Western Bulldogs before arriving at Linen House Centre, the 26-year-old believes moving clubs midway through a season would be difficult to handle.

“Footy has obviously changed a lot with the fact that players do move a bit. I don’t know how blokes would cope moving in-season,” he said.

“I think it would be pretty tough walking into a football environment and having to learn a lot and fit into an AFL squad, so I’m not sure how that world work.

“Obviously I’m all for a trade, but I’m not sure about a mid-season trade.”
