Two Saints will face tests this week as they look to put their hands up for senior and VFL selection.

Billy Longer could be available after copping a knee to the groin in Round 2, while draftee Ben Paton will look to get his season back on track after a thumb injury interrupted his pre-season.

St Kilda Head Physiotherapist Andrew Wallis said Longer’s injury wouldn’t hold the ruckman back.

“It was on the bone, so nothing too important was damaged,” he told saints.com.au.

“He will go through a test on Thursday, but we imagine he will be available.”

In good news for Nathan Freeman, Wallis confirmed the midfielder’s recovery was on track.

“He’s only 4-5 weeks away,” Wallis confirmed.

“He’s up to 85 per cent of his speed, so he’s going really well.”

Darren Minchington is expected to spend another six weeks on the sidelines, set to resume running next week.
