Sandringham defeated Frankston by 122 points in the VFL’s inaugural Pride Cup match in Round 10, moving the Zebras to sit just one game outside the top eight. The win over Frankston was the Zebras’ first since the 51-point victory over Werribee in Round 8.

Williamstown returned to the winner’s list after back-to-back losses threatened to derail their season, but last round’s 12-point win over Richmond was one worth savouring for the Seagulls. Andy Collins’ side now sits in eighth spot with a 5-4 win/loss record heading into round 11.

Players to watch:

WILLAMSTOWN

Ben Cavarra

The former Frankston ball magnet is excelling at Point Gellibrand and was a key player in the Seagulls’ win over Richmond last week. Cavarra finished with 22 disposals and two goals.

Michael Gibbons

The Seagulls’ second-highest ball winner in the win over Richmond last round, Gibbons played a key role with his 24 disposals and a goal. He also laid four tackles and had six inside 50s.

SANDRINGHAM

Josh Bruce

The 26-year-old Saint played his first game in nine weeks and shone for the Zebras, with four goals and six marks. Sandringham coach Aaron Hamill was full of praise for the key forward and will be looking for another strong performance as Bruce strives for a return to the AFL.

Nathan Freeman

Another Saint who returned from injury last week, ‘Freeza’ finished with 28 disposals and four tackles. Sunday presents an opportunity for the talented midfielder to build his form before pushing for his long-awaited AFL debut in the coming weeks.
