The Southern Saints were the better side against NT Thunder in Round 7, when they beat the then-undefeated league-leaders by 20 points. The Saints have now won four from six this season and sit one win outside the top four. They will be rested and raring to go after their bye last round.

SOUTHERN SAINTS

Kayla Ripari

The 20-year-old Saint may not amass ground-breaking numbers each week, but what she can do is make an impact. You’ll see ‘Rippa’ frequently throw her speed and body into a contest and rarely come off second best. In the Saints’ win against Casey in Round 3, Ripari stopped Melbourne AFLW speedster Aliesha Newman with a bone-crunching tackle which left the Demon hurting.

Alison Brown

The former Carlton AFLW recruit has become a staple in the Saints’ midfield this season, averaging 16.2 disposals a match. The 21-year-old also finished with 22 possessions, four marks and nine tackles in the Saints’ Round 7 win against the Thunder.

Primarily a midfielder, ‘Brownie’ also has the ability to sneak forward and kick the occasional goal – the 50-metre bomb she kicked when they last met the Demons stands out.

CASEY DEMONS

Bianca Jakobsson

The Melbourne AFLW defender was a standout in Casey’s win against Essendon last weekend. Jakobsson gathered 20 disposals, six marks and nine tackles in slippery conditions across the backline.

Kaila Bentvelzen

In one of the season’s best individual performances, Bentvelzen kicked five majors against Williamstown in Round 5. With Casey trailing behind in inside 50s 28-41, it was Bentvelzen’s sharp shooting that proved crucial to the Demon’s victory. The forward was also an important figure against the Bombers last week, finishing with 18 disposals and a goal.
