Form guide:

After a perfect start to the season, in which their only blemish was a draw against the Magpies in Round 2, Geelong has suffered its first two losses of the season over the past fortnight. The first upset was against the Western Bulldogs in Round 8 and was followed by a 65-point thrashing at the hands of the NT Thunder last weekend.

The Southern Saints have only won one of their last three games. Peta Searle’s side rebounded from a Hawks defeat to knock off the Thunder in Round 7 but failed to carry that form across the bye, losing by 11 points to the Casey Demons.

Players to watch:

GEELONG

Richelle Cranston

‘Rocky’ made her return to the Cats’ line-up against the NT Thunder last week and was a big boost for the club, after the AFLW star sat out the previous round. The explosive midfielder was one of the best in an otherwise unflattering loss for the Cats, finishing with 20 disposals and a goal.

Madeline Keryk

Having crossed from Carlton after Round 5 (after being delisted from the AFLW side), the midfielder has been a consistent contributor in the last three matches for the Cats. She recorded a match-high 23 disposals against the NT Thunder last week, and was one of the Cats’ best in their loss to the Bulldogs.

SOUTHERN SAINTS

Monique Maitland

The Saints midfielder was one of the cleanest ball-users in wet conditions last week. Maitland gathered 15 disposals against the Demons and applied elite pressure on the opposition, laying nine tackles.

Danielle Lawrence

The former Seaford footballer clearly has the ability to kick a bag, kicking four goals in Round 2 against Williamstown. But against an experienced Geelong backline, Lawrence will be one of a number of Saints forwards who will need to fire.
