A composed and reliable defender, Dempster came to St Kilda at the end of 2007 from the Sydney Swans.
Since his arrival he has been a consistent and permanent fixture in the Saints backline, earning All-Australian honours in 2012 and finishing seventh in the 2013 best and fairest.
Despite missing three of the first four games due to injury, Dempster finished second behind Nick Riewoldt at the club for total marks, and was often forced to play on bigger opponents due to St Kilda’s injury crisis.
A skilful defender capable of playing on small and tall forwards, Dempster joined the Saints at the conclusion of the 2007 season from the Sydney Swans. Dempster’s fantastic 2012 season saw him awarded with his first All-Australian selection and his second top three best and fairest finish in a row.
Dempster led the club in marks and rebounds from defensive 50 last year, proving to be St Kilda’s most important and versatile defender. In Round 22, he collected a career-high 29 disposals against GWS at Etihad Stadium, further exemplifying his ability to find the footy and propel it forward.
Dempster’s significant improvement in recent years sees him as one of St Kilda’s most valuable players.

Sean had an outstanding year. He led the AFL for marking opposition kicks and is as courageous as they come. He would do anything for the side and his last couple of weeks were especially strong.
