A relentless midfielder who is capable of nullifying opposition midfielders, Jones was picked at No.9 in the 2007 AFL Rookie Draft from South Fremantle.

With the influx of youth in St Kilda’s setup over the past two years, the left-footer has become one of the club’s most experienced players and after 133 games is a good chance to reach an important milestone late in the 2014 season.

In the last fortnight of 2013 he held Gary Ablett to just seven kicks at Etihad Stadium before amassing a career-best 35 disposals against Fremantle the following week.

Jones has been a permanent fixture in the St Kilda team for much the last six seasons and remains an integral member of the midfield brigade.

A hard-working on-baller, Jones was recruited from South Fremantle Football Club as the 9th selection in the 2007 AFL Rookie Draft.

In 2012 he was used more as a traditional ball-winning midfielder rather than the tagging role he had become accustomed to playing.

The left-footer is renowned for being fantastic defensively, and will be looking to continue to improve the offensive side of his game in order to cement a spot in Watters best 22 this year.

Clinton Jones was recruited to the Saints from South Fremantle in the WAFL and debuted for the Saints in 2007.

Clinton is a dogged tagger who is more often than not given the responsibility to shut down the opposition’s most dangerous midfielder.

His work rate and commitment is outstanding with tackling being a strong feature of his game.

In 2011 he stepped up in the absence of the injured Lenny Hayes, and led the Saints in tackles whilst ranking fifth for disposals, breaking the 30-possession mark on two occasions.

The 28-year-old had a solid year in 2011, averaging 19 disposals and over 6 tackles per game and also won the Club’s Halo Coterie, Nathan Burke Most Determined Player Award.
