Player Bio

Background

Originally taken by West Coast with pick No. 23 in the 2009 National Draft, Stevens spent three years at the Eagles and then another four at the Western Bulldogs before joining the Saints.

The inside midfielder overcame a frustrating start at Linen House Centre to soon entrench himself inside the engine room in 2017.

After an impressive pre-season, he was sidelined by food poisoning on the eve of Round One and forced to work his way into Alan Richardson’s side via the VFL.

Stevens was used in a handful of different roles in his first season in red, white and black, including as a tagger with great effect at times. He blanketed Adelaide All-Australian midfielder Rory Sloane in Round 12, holding the superstar to his second-lowest disposal haul for the year, in Stevens’ most influential effort of the year.

While Stevens still faced challenges with his body this season, recent groin surgery has helped alleviate those issues and set him up an important 2018 campaign.
