The transformation of McQualter’s career took another twist in 2009. After reinventing himself as a run-with player in 2008, and saving his Saints career in the process, he became a key component of the forward line last year. McQualter led the club in goal assists, averaged nearly a goal a game, and was a brilliant exponent of his team’s ferocious pressure, laying 114 tackles.
