Kane is the son of Sydney Swans Team of the Century member David, and possesses the natural football ability that his father’s genes have passed down to him. He is a fleet-footed rover/forward pocket player who has better than average overhead marking ability for a player his size.

Kane attends St. Ignatius College Riverview and also plays football with the school’s U-16 and U-18 teams that compete in the Sydney AFL competition.

He has incredible "football nous" otherwise referred to as 'footy smarts' and is also super courageous for a player small in stature.
As well as his talented father (and mother), Kane also has an older sister who is a state representative softballer.

Kane is also a state representative and was a key part of the NSW-ACT "RAMS" team in the 2008 U-16 National Championships in Queensland.
