Sebastian Ross was St Kilda’s first pick during the 2011 AFL National Draft at pick 25. The talented midfielder from Horsham in country Victoria, Sebastian is the nephew of Tim Watson and cousin of Essendon captain, Jobe Watson.

Sebastian made his debut for the North Ballarat Rebels in 2010, and last year was selected in the Rebels’ leadership group.

Later that season he earned Vic Country selection, playing with and against some of the nation’s most talented teenage players in the AFL Under-18 National Championships.

On drafting Sebastian, Senior Coach Scott Watters likened him to Scott Pendlebury, a player he knows well from his days at Collingwood.

“He’s a left-footer, really composed, creates terrific space for himself where a lot of other players would be panicked, so he’s just got a really cool head. It’s a big comparison, I know, but he’s got plenty of talent,” said Watters. Sebastian has already tasted AFL football this season, playing for St Kilda during the Club’s Round 1 NAB Cup games against Sydney and Geelong.

Seb has worked hard during the pre-season, and although he is only 18 years of age, he could make his AFL debut this season.

In 2012, Sebastian will play his football for St Kilda’s affiliate VFL side Sandringham Football Club.
