Let's Eat, Grow and Play

The 2010 Saints in Schools program, proudly supported by St.George Bank, ‘Let’s Eat, Play & Grow’, is a health, nutrition and physical activity program specifically designed for Grade 3 and 4 students.

A range of St Kilda senior players have been working alongside Nutritionist and Commonwealth and Olympic Games champion, Lauren Hewitt, to create the program in order to inspire and teach children the value and importance of healthy habits and positive thinking.

The Saints in Schools program will run for approximately 45 minutes, which entails 20 minutes of players conducting classroom activity and then a sports clinic for 25 minutes on the school’s oval or sports hall.

Program Structure;
  • 112 school visits will be made from City of Port Phillip to Mornington Peninsula Shire
  • 21 St Kilda players are involved with the program, which includes seven senior players who are acting as mentors to 14 other players.
  • Each session will be delivered to approximately 50 - 60 students (student numbers may fluctuate slightly), equating to around 6,200 students that the players will see throughout the year
  • Each pair will run a health, nutrition classroom activity for 20 mins with a booklet to be handed out to each student. The next 20 mins students will spend participating in an assortment of sports activities run by the players.
