Strategy

From its ongoing success in 2009, the Saints in the Community program is set to enhance its positive impact throughout 2010. Local community groups, charities and schools will be the Club’s focus between now and after the relocation to Frankston in late 2010.

In 2010, Community partnerships and the schools program will extend all the way along the Bay, from Port Melbourne to Portsea whilst also encapsulating partnerships and school groups in Melbourne’s inner South East regions of Stonnington and Glen Eira.

The Saints are planning to deliver key health, nutrition, respect and responsibility messages and run sports clinics for around 5,000 Grade 3 and 4 students. It is envisaged that the program will visit approximately 120 primary schools, an increase of 40% from 2009. The program will ensure kids have fun, while learning vital life skills through participation in a team environment.

A focus on health, nutrition and physical activity is imperative for kids, now more than ever before. In combination with showcasing our great game of AFL, the Saints in Schools program guarantees kids are active in improving their health and well being while also becoming involved in sport.

It is a very exciting time for our Saints in the Community program and we look forward to broadening our reach and contribution to the wider South-East community in 2010 and beyond.
