St Kilda defender Alice Burke has tonight been named in the 2021 rebel VFL Women's Team of the Year.

The 19-year-old was selected on the half-back flank alongside fellow Southern Saints Lucy Burke (centre half-back) and Tara Bohanna (centre half-forward) following her maiden VFL Women's season.

Burke averaged 17 disposals, seven tackles and four rebound-50s across her 10 matches, which also came complete with two finals appearances and a fourth-placed finish at the Southern Saints' 2021 Best & Fairest.

After being drafted to St Kilda as a father-daughter recruit in 2020, Burke made her senior debut in Round 1 against the Western Bulldogs – the side her father, Nathan Burke, coaches – and went on to play a further three games for the year.

Burke joins fellow St Kilda players/Southern Saints graduates Olivia Vesely, Rhi Watt, Caitlin Greiser and Tilly Lucas-Rodd in being named in the VFL Women's Team of the Year.
