What is the Danny Frawley Centre for Health and Wellbeing?
The Danny Frawley Centre for Health and Wellbeing will be a world-class facility catering to both the physical and mental health needs of the community.
The centre will incorporate a 25m lap pool, hydrotherapy pool and high tech recover centre, as well as a community gym, allied health services and a wellbeing centre housing a host of psychologists, researchers and program operators.
Dedicated mental health facilities will include consulting suites for service providers, shared work areas for program development and research, a community education room for prevention and training programs as well as casual meeting spaces for facility users.
When is the centre expected to open?
The DFC will open early in 2022 and an extension to the current facility is already progressing through a town planning process. Site works have already commenced.
What will the facility include?
The Danny Frawley Centre will extend across two key facilities featuring multi-purpose spaces which will accommodate the provision of programs and services to support the mental and physical health of St Kilda people and the community alike.
The primary health and wellbeing centre will feature consulting suites, meeting and shared workspaces and community classrooms. The ground floor of the facility will focus on physical health and will include a 25m lap pool, a hydrotherapy pool and a rehabilitation gym. The first floor will focus on mental health and wellbeing, equipped with consulting suites, education facilities and shared work areas.
The secondary building will feature a large multi-purpose area that will be equipped to deliver programs to schools and groups of up to 250 participants.
Who are the funding partners?
The Danny Frawley Centre has been funded via a combination of Federal and State government grants (totalling$15.8 million) and generous philanthropic support.
