The fans have spoken, and as voted by you, Josh Battle is this week’s Dare Iced Coffee Sainter of the Round.

Only two games into his new role in the backline, Battle was a wall in defence on Sunday night, consistently repelling the Fremantle offensive as it mounted its final-quarter charge at Optus Stadium.

The No. 26 finished the game with 21 disposals, 13 marks and 387 meters gained in a best-on-ground performance as the Saints took home a 10-point victory out in the west, the first win for the club in the state since 2017. 

Of Battle's 13 marks for the afternoon, three were contested and seven were intercepts, with three of latter coming in the last quarter as the Dockers bombarded the St Kilda defensive-50 over and over in a desperate search for a goal.

After holding multiple positional roles during his six seasons as a Saint, the nomadic 23-year-old now looks to have found a home down in defence alongside Callum Wilkie and Jimmy Webster. 

Joining Battle in the votes is Max King, who exploded in the second half to swing the game back in favour of his side with three third-quarter goals.

Despite having just a handful of touches to his name at the main break, the 21-year-old turned the tide after half-time to jag home four goals in a powerful forward display.

Three of these majors came in the third term as King kicked goal after goal, all from set shots in an electric performance.

As the Dockers came hard during the final term, the St Kilda No. 12 steadied the ship with a calmly executed set shot to kick his fourth and see the Saints home.

Jack Higgins rounds out the votes, with the small forward bouncing back in a big way with four goals in an excellent display of forward-50 pressure.

The second-year Saint was lively early in the game as he hunted and hounded the opposition defence and was justly rewarded as he kicked two in a row to bring his side back from an early deficit.

Higgins would then slot the first of the third to kickstart the St Kilda comeback before soccering a goal off the ground to secure his fourth of the game.

The 23-year-old also collected 16 disposals and had six score involvements in a productive day out west.
