Three final-quarter goals from Caitlin Greiser provided the Southern Saints the perfect amount of firepower to oust Williamstown by 16 points at Wilson Storage Trevor Barker Beach Oval and lock up a spot in the top-four for another week.

The key forward was the catalyst for the stirring finish to the game, combining well with Hannah Stuart (24 disposals, 10 tackles, four clearances) to initiate the second-half effort and cruise towards the 6.8 (44) to 4.4 (28) triumph.

Greiser had 19 touches (18 kicks) and 10 marks to go alongside her three-goal bag, using her thumping right boot to great effect in her first game for the Southern Saints this year.

The Southern Saints only held a seven-point lead at the final change, but weathered through the Seagulls' two-goal surge to land 16 points clear.

Both sides struggled to penetrate the defence to begin the game in what was a tight-arm-wrestle, before Elsa Mangan broke the game open, duly rewarded with the first goal of the contest as Williamstown turned for home within seven points.

The Saints continued to press however, forcing their way through the defence, with consecutive clearances from the midfield allowing fast ball movement to facilitate rewards on the scoreboard.

Alana Woodward (12 tackles, two clearances) and Rebecca Neaves combined well in attack, while Madison Capsalis (11 disposals, eight tackles, four clearances) was impassible at full-back as Sarah Black (31 hit-outs, nine tackles) took initiative in the middle.

The Southern Saints will host the Bulldogs at Trevor Barker Beach Oval on Saturday May 7, with the match beginning at 9:45am.
