Ryan Smith has become the first player in Victorian Wheelchair Football League history to record 100 goals in a season, bringing up the milestone last Sunday afternoon at Boorondara Sports Complex.

The St Kilda skipper had entered the game on 93 goals from just seven games and wasted no time in scoring his first major early in the game.

He brought up the milestone halfway through the second quarter as his teammates charged the court to celebrate with their captain.

Smith's remarkable achievement came a lot sooner than anticipated, following a 22-goal haul against Hawthorn last May.

He scored a further two majors before moving into the centre after half-time, helping his side to a 16-point win over the the top-of-the-table Bombers.

The win now puts the Saints third behind both Essendon and Richmond with four rounds left in the season.

Meanwhile, St Kilda’s blind team are gearing up for a blockbuster clash against the similarly unbeaten Bulldogs this Saturday.

The Saints have been in superb form during the 2022 VBFL season, continuing their incredible winning streak that begun in July last year and included in the 2021 premiership.

The match is set to take place at the Action Indoor Sports Stadium from 12:00PM.
