Mason Wood, Tom Highmore, Tom Campbell and Jack Peris have put pen to paper to finalise fresh contract extensions, each signing on for an additional year to tie them to the club until the end of 2023.

Wood pieced together a career-best campaign playing full-time along the wing in 2022, rounding out the year with 19 games to his name – the highest total in his nine AFL seasons – after becoming a regular of the senior Saints’ line-up.

Earlier this month, the 29-year-old claimed the Robert Harvey Best Clubman Award for his work with the club’s young brigade and AFLW program.

After joining St Kilda as a delisted free agent last November, Campbell enjoyed an impressive campaign for the club’s VFL affiliate, Sandringham, securing top honours from just 12 games.

The former Dogs and Roos ruck played two senior games from the season just gone, both times coming in for now-retired Paddy Ryder.

Following his 13 matches from his debut campaign in 2021, Highmore registered three senior appearances in this season following the emergence of All-Australian and Trevor Barker Award winner, Jack Sinclair.

Peris, drafted as a Category B Rookie late last year from the club's Next Generation Academy, closed out his first season as a regular contributor at VFL level, plying his trade up forward and along the wing in the latter stages of the year.

Highmore and Peris finished 2022 with top-10 placings in Sandringham’s Best & Fairest.

“We’re pleased to have Mason, Tom, Jack and Tom extend their time at the club,” Head of List Management James Gallagher said.

All four players have put in a commendable amount of work both on and off the track this year and, irrespective of the number of senior games played, that is a trait we’re always happy to see.

“As we look towards the upcoming draft and trade periods, we will look to further consolidate and strengthen our list, but these recent extensions are important in shoring up our depth across each line.”

St Kilda will communicate further list news as the 2022 Continental Tyres Trade Period approaches.
