St Kilda Football Club has made a further two changes to its list ahead of the coming AFL trade and free agency period.

Trent Dennis-Lane and Sam Dunell have been advised that they will not be offered contract extensions beyond 2014.

The pair joins James Gwilt, Clinton Jones, Lenny Hayes, Beau Maister and possibly Terry Milera in departing the Saints this season.

Dennis-Lane played 10 games and kicked nine goals for St Kilda since crossing to the club from Sydney for pick 46 in the 2012 trade period.

Originally from WAFL club Subiaco, Dennis-Lane made his AFL debut for Sydney in 2010 and played 19 games, including two finals. He was an emergency for the Swans’ 2012 premiership win over Hawthorn.

Dunell played 12 games for St Kilda after he was drafted from Victorian Amateur club Old Melburnians with the 12th pick in the 2012 rookie draft.

Playing as a mid-sized forward, Dunell was elevated from the rookie list after playing five games in his debut season.

St Kilda coach Alan Richardson paid tribute to Dunell and Dennis-Lane for their services to the Saints.

“Despite limited opportunities in our AFL team, Sam and Trent have both shown significant leadership with Sandringham in the VFL competition, which is a testament to the outstanding character of both players,” Richardson said.

“While it is never easy for a player to be told they are leaving a club, the guys were understanding of the club’s decision and we wish them well for their futures.”
