2016 fixture highlights St Kilda CEO Matt Finnis reflects on the strength of our 2016 home and away fixture.

Leigh Montagna will play his 250th game in round one.

ST KILDA's 2016 season gets off to a huge start with blockbuster home games in Round 2 against the Western Bulldogs and Round 3 against Collingwood. The Round 2 clash will serve as a 300-game celebration for Nick Riewoldt and the following week the club will celebrate the 50th anniversary of its 1966 Premiership win against Collingwood.

The Saints will play North Melbourne, Western Bulldogs, Carlton, Essendon and Melbourne twice and every other team once.

In addition, the Saints will play 10 home games at Etihad Stadium and four away matches at the venue, while their bye will be in round 13.

Other highlights include:

  • Five big Saturday night clashes
  • Only one Sunday twilight home game (down from four)
  • No back-to-back six-day breaks or interstate travel
  • Historic Pride Match against Sydney Swans
  • Game in Launceston
  • A home match to finish the season for the first time since 2013
