Star St Kilda defender Dylan Roberton is awaiting test results that will shed light on his immediate playing future.

Roberton told the club's medical team he felt "wonky" after his side's win over the Western Bulldogs last Sunday, which was particularly concerning after an irregular heartbeat meant he missed most of 2018.

Following his on-field collapse against Geelong in round four last season, Roberton had an implant inserted into his heart to act as a precautionary device in case he suffers another major problem.

It is essentially a mini-defibrillator.

He spent Sunday night in hospital and was tested but is yet to receive the results.

The club will map out a plan when they arrive.

"Obviously a few more tests to go through, like what happened last year, but hopefully we'll know more in a couple of days," Roberton told reporters on Tuesday.

The 27-year-old feels back to full health.

"I feel fine, so if I get the good news, I'm as fit as ever, so I'll be ready to go," Roberton said.

Despite immediate concerns from others over his health, the backman himself wasn't too worried.

"It wasn't too scary. You never really feel too good after a game anyway, so it wasn't too different, but I just thought obviously with what happened last year, I thought it was best to let the docs know and then take all the precautions," Roberton said.
