St Kilda has selected explosive midfielder Ryan Byrnes and elite kicker Leo Connolly in the 2019 NAB AFL Draft, along with ruckman Jack Bell as a rookie selection.

Byrnes was grabbed by the Saints with pick No. 52 after a standout season for Sandringham in the NAB League

His remarkable consistency saw him represent Vic Metro at the NAB AFL Under 18 Championships and go on to win the Dragons' best-and-fairest.

At 180cm and 80kg, Byrnes has the physical attributes to play AFL football early in his career.

With pick No. 64, the Saints snared running defender/midfielder Leo Connolly.

The Gippsland Power speedster offers elite kicking, with superb skills off both feet.

His run and carry was a feature for the Power in the NAB League this season where he produced his best football in the latter stages of the season.

St Kilda also brought in ruckman Jack Bell with pick No. 5 in the rookie draft.

Although he’s still raw, the Sandringham Dragons product is strong in the air through his contested marking and can move up forward to provide a tall target.

At 202cm, the Vic Metro representative boasts an impressive vertical leap and can take marks all over the ground.

The Saints complete their list with 45 players heading into Season 2020.
