He replaces forward Terry Milera, who has been named as an emergency alongside Clint Jones and Josh Saunders.

This is the only change to the 22 which played against the Crows, with reliable defender James Gwilt due to play his 100th AFL game.

"Jimmy is very important to the group," Jarryn Geary said this week. "He's really well liked around the club ... He's just a big, imposing figure out on the field and when he's not there, we really miss him."

"It's good to see him playing his 100th game because he's had to fight for a few things with his knee. He's a big part of our group."

Hayes is a 268-game veteran who is has been a crucial component of St Kilda teams since the turn of the century.
