The Saints will return to prime time football in Round 6, set to host Geelong in a Thursday night blockbuster at Marvel Stadium.

The fixture was confirmed this evening, with the AFL releasing one further round of games.

The clash will follow the Saints’ Round 5 clash with the Blues, after games against the Western Bulldogs, Collingwood and Richmond.

While the clash means a five-day break after the Round 5 match with Carlton, it does signal the return to a primetime fixture for the first time since 2018.

The Saints went without a Thursday night or Friday night timeslot in 2019 and weren’t scheduled to appear on either night in the original 2020 fixture.

The battle against the Cats provides another chance for Brett Ratten’s young side to tackle one of last year’s finalists, the fourth such opponent in the first five rounds of the season restart.

St Kilda last faced Geelong in Round 17 in 2019 at GHMBA Stadium, which proved to be Alan Richardson’s last game as senior coach.

The Saints are expected to learn their Round 7 opponent and whether they will be required to join a Western Australian hub in the coming days
