St Kilda CEO Matt Finnis says he's been humbled by St Kilda members' loyalty following the club's record membership tally for Season 2020.

The Saints broke their all-time membership record last week, surpassing the 47,000 mark in what can only be described as a season like no other.

"It’s humbling in many respects," Finnis said this morning on SEN.

"Every club has got their own history, but our club is the only club that wears the crest on the front of their jumper, and those words that mean Strength Through Loyalty, they’ve been there all that time.

I feel like this year is the year where Saints fans, Saints members and our people have just lived that moniker more than ever before.

Sainters from all walks of life pledged their memberships for Season 2020, with several loyal members even funding other supporters' memberships out of their own pocket.

Over 4,000 new members pledged their allegiance to the club following the league-wide shutdown, while over $200,000 was raised as part of the Saints Pledge campaign.

In recognition of the incredible support, St Kilda will provide every member who is signed up for a 2020 membership before the end of August the opportunity to upgrade their membership free of charge in 2021.

While the landscape of next season remains unknown, Finnis promises the Saints will do everything they can to reward their members for their loyalty.

“We will find a way to ensure that everyone is rewarded for that support,” Finnis said.

“We’ll continue to grow together, we’ll have our ups and downs, but we just want to pay tribute and thank everyone for standing by the club so much this year.”
