Player Bio

Background

McKenzie was selected by St Kilda with pick No. 22 in the 2014 National Draft.

After playing patches of games in his first three years at the club, McKenzie managed to break into the side in Round 10 against Richmond, cementing a spot in St Kilda’s defence for the remainder of the year.

While his hardness and grit were hallmarks of his playing style all season, the 23-year-old was particularly prominent against Gold Coast in Round 13, holding the defence together following injuries to Jimmy Webster and Bailey Rice.

The endurance beast finished with 13 disposals, seven tackles and a game-changing goal in the final term to help push the Saints to their second win of the season.

If McKenzie carries over his impressive work ethic into 2019, the youngster can expect to not only chalk up his 50th game, but assert himself as a permanent figure of the Saints’ back six.
