Player Bio

Background

Lonie was taken by the Saints with pick No. 41 in the 2014 National Draft.

The livewire forward earnt a Rising Star nomination in Round 14 of his debut season following a breakout performance against Essendon where he had 18 disposals, five inside 50s and a goal.

He inherited Adam Schneider’s No. 13 guernsey in 2015, a gesture all the more special given the close bond the pair formed during Lonie’s first season in the AFL system.

Lonie proved influential in the second-half of 2018, booting 11 goals in five matches, inclusive of a four-goal haul against Hawthorn in Round 22.

His explosive finish to the year was punctuated with the 22-year-old recommitting to the Saints for a further two years.

With livewire forward Jade Gresham set to spend more time in the midfield this season, Lonie could be the key to injecting more energy into the Saints’ forward line.
