St Kilda's blind team has gone down in a thriller on Saturday afternoon, falling to the Bulldogs by 10 points in the 2022 VBFL Grand Final.

The Saints had only lost the one game for the season and were looking to win back-to-back premierships, while the Dogs were eyeing off their second flag in four years.

Having been the only side to beat the red, white and black this year, the Dogs started strongly with back-to-back goals inside the opening minutes before goals from Ross Patterson and Kate Aarons brought Shannon Jones' side back to within two points.

St Kilda took the ascendancy in the second but couldn't find reward on the scoreboard until some Lachlan Kosic magic saw the youngster hit up Aarons in the goal-square before he slotted a silky goal himself to put the Saints up by one at the main break.

It was a tight third quarter with tensions flaring as both sides fought and scrapped for the lead. However, it was the Bulldogs were the ones who took control late with two quick goals to put them up by 14 heading into the final term.

Needing to respond quickly, the Saints battled hard for the lead but the Dogs' defence held up as the minutes begun to tick down.

With Jones' side needing to step up, it was Kosic once again who came to the party, taking a big grab and kicking the goal to see the Saints up by three points with a minute to play.

However, it wasn't to be as the Bulldogs came charging and kicked two goals straight to seal the 2022 VBFL premiership.

Thanks to Pepper Money and Guide Dogs Australia for their continued support of our VBFL side throughout the 2022 season.
